Zimbabwe is preparing to become another attractive host country for Article 6 carbon activities. Following the introduction of carbon trading regulations, the Ministry of Environment, Climate and Wildlife (MoECW) has completed the pilot launch of the Zimbabwe Carbon Registry – the first national carbon registry based on secure blockchain technology. Fully integrated with a comprehensive digital application platform, the registry will provide an unprecedented level of transparency, security and interoperability, according to the Zimbabwe Carbon Association (ZCA).
The new regulations in Zimbabwe include world-leading social and environmental safeguards, additional investor protections, a consistent set of procedures to ensure the smooth transition of all Voluntary Carbon Market (VCM) projects to Article 6-eligible, and clear guidance to facilitate participation in all Article 6 mechanisms.
Climate action needs collaborative approaches. If you’d like to learn more about the opportunities of the Article 6 market, please contact us at CarbonWise Consulting for assistance in submitting your Idea Note and becoming a project owner!
